Police attribute two recent arrests to multiple anonymous tips about possible drug activity in the area. While both people — one man and one woman — were both charged with drug-related offenses, they are not facing the exact same criminal charges. The man is charged for heroin possession and methamphetamine trafficking while the woman is charged with methamphetamine possession.
It is not clear what prompted people to call police with their concerns about the pair. Following those tips, drug agents spent several hours watching the 36-year-old man and 22-year-old woman. Following this period of observation, authorities decided to initiate a traffic stop shortly after they left a house. Police did not say who the owner of the property was.
Police allegedly found drugs, drug paraphernalia, and a significant sum of money inside the vehicle. Drug agents obtained a search warrant for the property and say they found more methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and money. These items were seized, as were stolen weapons and heroin. There were also several items that had been potentially stolen inside of a pickup truck that was on the same property.
Both people are currently behind bars where it does not appear as if a judge has set their respective bonds. Alabama authorities also stated that they are likely to file more charges for additional criminal law violations. However, this is not a reason to put off criminal defense planning. Even if new charges are filed, a defendant can incorporate that information into an existing plan.
