3 facing criminal charges following high speed chase

Three people are facing criminal charges following a high-speed chase with police. Their criminal allegations include drug trafficking, weapons charges, and violating the state's current health order, which limits nonessential business.

In early April 2020, a state trooper observed a speeding vehicle on the interstate and tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver allegedly refused to stop and led the authorities on a high speed chase. With the help of a sheriff's deputy, the trooper was finally able to stop the vehicle some time later.

Police searched the vehicle and claimed that they found nearly 200 hundred ecstacy pills, marijuana, multiple firearms, and the drug MDMA. Two of the vehicle's occupants -- a 19 and 22 year old -- were both charged with possessing a concealed weapon, drug trafficking, and violating the state's health order. In addition to these same charges, the third occupant and driver -- a 22-year-old woman -- was also arrested for possessing drug paraphernalia, reckless endangerment, and attempting to elude.

It is important to understand that laws and consequences vary from state to state. While two of the three young adults are not Alabama residents, they will still face the consequences of Alabama state law. Having a more thorough understanding of one's criminal charges, related evidence, and the state-specific laws that apply can prove helpful when creating a strong foundation for criminal defense.
