Two Alabama men are in police custody for their alleged role in an ongoing drug trafficking operation. Both men are charged with the trafficking of multiple illicit substances, including marijuana, and are accused of possessing controlled substances. State criminal law treats drug crimes seriously, and the consequences of a conviction can be serious and long-lasting.

Authorities claim they investigated the two men for several months before they finally searched their home. Located in a rural area, police say they were surprised to discover a possible drug trafficking operation was going on in the area. They claim they found approximately 3 pounds of both marijuana and methamphetamine, prescription medications, more than $30,000, and various drug paraphernalia.

The home’s residents, both men in their late 20s, were believed to be supplying drugs to area dealers. Police arrested the men on several charges each, including five counts for unlawfully possessing controlled substances and trafficking of methamphetamine and marijuana. Investigators believe that federal charges will also be filed.

Drug charges are no small matter, particularly when facing several allegations simultaneously. In addition to jail time, hefty fines, and other consequences of criminal law, defendants often worry about their future opportunities for education and employment. For most people in Alabama, it is possible to minimize these effects by conducting a careful review of all charges and evidence as early on as possible. By doing so, defendants can better ascertain how to proceed to achieve the best possible outcome for their individual situations.
