Criminal law: Officer fired after arrest
An Alabama police officer recently lost his job after he allegedly made a false report regarding a shooting. The officer is charged with discharging a firearm within city limits, false reporting, and criminal mischief. This is apparently not the first time he has been accused of making a false report or mishandling aspects of his job, but it does appear to be the first time he has been charged for violating criminal law.
Alabama man faces criminal charges for boating accident
A deadly boating accident on the Fourth of July resulted in police arresting a man who might have been intoxicated at the time. He is facing a number of criminal charges, which are boating under the influence, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and two counts for murder. Two people died and another five were seriously injured in the boating accident he is accused of causing.
